Operate machinery and equipment (AHCMOM304) is a competency within the Certificate III in Horticulture and the Certificate II in ESI – Powerline Vegetation Control.

You will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment when you successfully complete this course.

What will I learn during Operate machinery and equipment?

What sort of assessments can I expect to complete?

Interlink’s Operate machinery and equipment (AHCMOM304) course contains a combination of written and practical assessments.

Written assessments test your knowledge of key learning outcomes including:

  • Operating methods for different types of agricultural and horticultural machinery and equipment
  • Assessing the risks associated with using equipment in varying weather conditions or worksite environments
  • Conducting pre-operational and safety checks according to the manufacturers instructions
  • Workplace health and safety procedures
  • Cleaning, storing and securing machinery and other equipment.

Practical assessments assess your ability to demonstrate performance criteria such as:

  • Implemented safe operating procedures and identifying risks
  • Conducting basic servicing and maintenance and running pre-operation checks
  • Operating machinery and equipment in a safe and controlled manner
  • Checking and attaching ancillary equipment
  • Carrying out machine shut-down procedures
  • Recognising and reporting any defects or damage to the equipment.

Assessment are conducted within realistic, workplace settings and are held over the duration of the unit.
