Training | Course | Certificate

Study Implement traffic management plan with Interlink

Training delivered in Victoria and Tasmania only.

Interlink’s Implement traffic management plan (RIIWHS302E) course teaches you to prepare and carry out a traffic guidance scheme to manage the movement of vehicles around road disruptions.

There are many reasons you might need to control the flow of traffic on the roads. Construction, accidents, planned events and school zones are just some situations that require traffic management.

Interlink’s course gives you the skills to plan and prepare a traffic management plan. Set out monitor and close down traffic guidance schemes on public and private roads, parking areas and construction sites.

What do I get for completing Implement traffic management plan?

Completing Interlink’s course meets the national requirements for the accredited Unit of Competency (RIIWHS302E).

When you complete Implement traffic management plan (RIIWHS302E) you will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.

Implement traffic management plan (RIIWHS302E) can be taken alongside Control traffic with stop-slow bat (RIIWHS205E) to qualify you for a Traffic Controller’s licence.

What will I learn during the Implement traffic management plan course?

Interlink’s course gives you the skills and knowledge to interpret and apply a traffic management plan. Select a traffic guidance scheme that suits the site conditions, traffic volume and the scheduled work activities.

Identify, obtain and implement traffic control signage and devices. Learn how to ensure signs and devices are correctly positioned on the approaches to the work area in both travel directions so the work crew are well protected.

During the course of your studies you will learn the regulations and procedures surrounding traffic control and the importance of checking designated traffic controllers’ qualifications for currency.

Interlink teaches you to monitor traffic flow and the effectiveness of the chosen guidance scheme.

What sort of assessments can I expect to complete?

Interlink’s course contains a combination of written and practical assessments.

Assessments test your knowledge of and ability to demonstrate learning elements including:

  • Identifying and selecting traffic guidance schemes
  • Positioning and displaying signage according to the site plan
  • Monitoring and adjusting your traffic guidance scheme in response to changes in the site conditions
  • Using traffic control communication methods including basic signalling, signs and devices
  • Dealing with non-compliant crew and motorists
  • Understanding JSAs, JSEA and Safe work method statements
  • Using civil construction terminology.

During your course you must successfully implement traffic management plans that comply with State/Territory regulations on three separate live traffic projects and control construction site vehicles on at least one occasion.

Assessment are conducted within realistic, workplace settings and are held over the duration of the unit.
