Introduction to Electrical Network Infrastructure for Authorised Persons (T0911) gives you the skills and accreditation required to apply to Energy Queensland (previously Ergon Energy and Energex) for approval to work as an Authorised Person, as defined in section 3.4 of the Code of Practice for Working Near Overhead and Underground Electric Lines.
Introduction to Electrical Network Infrastructure for Authorised Persons (T0911) supersedes the following courses:
- Working Safely Near Live Electrical Lines and Apparatus – Ergon (4490)
- Electrical Awareness for Safe Work (OHAW) – Energex (M320)
- Underground Awareness (M428)
What will I learn during the Introduction to Electrical Network Infrastructure for Authorised Persons unit?
During the course of your studies you will learn skills relating to:
- Applying electrical safety and technical knowledge relevant to the type of work and the operation of plant or vehicles near overhead and underground electric lines.
- Interpretation and application of the Code of Practice for Working Near Overhead and Underground Electric Lines
- Identification of electrical network assets and hazards that may be present.
What sort of assessments can I expect to complete?
Written assessments test your knowledge of learning elements (knowledge evidence) including:
- Identification of low voltage and high voltage electrical lines
- The ability to distinguish between insulated and uninsulated electrical lines
- Implementation of a safe system of work
- Understanding of unsafe distances and exclusion zone requirements
- Application of emergency procedures in the event of an incident.
Assessments are conducted within a classroom setting and are held over the duration of the unit.

Entry Requirements
To become accredited as an Authorised Person (Electrical), you must be licenses as an Electrical Mechanic. All other electrical licenses are not eligible.
To successfully complete this course participants will need intermediate literacy and numeracy skills.
