What will I learn during Perform pole top rescue?
Interlink’s course teaches you to prepare for and carry out a pole top rescue. Learn the workplace procedures and industry standards for accessing the pole top and attaching emergency lowering equipment to the casualty.
Follow all risk control protocols for working near live electrical apparatus and processes for reporting any accidents or other incidents.
Learn how to select and check tools and emergency equipment for safety and functionality and where best to place them so they are secure and accessible during a rescue.
Investigate the workplace procedures for carrying out cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and for calling emergency services. Gain the skills to secure and control a worksite after an incident until it is inspected and cleared by authorities.
What sort of assessments can I expect to complete?
Interlink’s Perform pole top rescue (UETTDRRF02) course contains a combination of written and practical assessments.
Written assessments test your knowledge of emergency procedures for the pole top rescue of an injured or incapacitated person including:
- The inspection and placement of rescue equipment
- Assessing and controlling hazards
- Safe approach distances (SAD)
- Contacting and working with emergency services
- Identifying a safe location to relocate the rescued party to.
Practical assessments assess your ability to demonstrate performance criteria such as:
- Placing and inspecting rescue equipment
- Performing a pole top rescue within a realistic setting in accordance with your workplace procedures
- Applying risk control strategies and other relevant workplace health and safety requirements.
Assessment are conducted within realistic, workplace settings and are held over the duration of the unit.

Entry Requirements
Before studying Perform pole top rescue (UETTDRRF02) you must complete Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (HLTAID001).
To successfully complete this course participants will need intermediate literacy and numeracy skills.
