Perform specialist amenity pruning (AHCPGD309)

Develop the skills to prune plants and trees using specialist techniques.

Control plant pests, diseases and disorders (AHCPMG302)

Develop the skills to assess infestations and diseases in plants and to implement control measures to manage the problem.

Implement soil improvements for garden and turf areas (AHCSOL304)

Gain the knowledge to prepare and improve soil for planting or replanting, collect soil samples from planting areas and test their physical and chemical characteristics and Plan a soil improvement program to optimise the tested area for projects such as garden beds or lawn.

Contribute to workplace health and safety processes (AHCWHS302)

Develop the skills to actively participate in maintaining the health and safety of people in your workplace, learn to contribute to a positive safety culture in your workplace and to carry out employee responsibilities according to legislation, codes of practice and enterprise work health and safety policies.

Apply environmentally sustainable work practices (AHCWRK320)

Work alongside workplace procedures, WHS requirements and legislation to ensure environmentally sustainable work practices are applied in the workplace.

Transport and store chemicals (AHCCHM304)

Develop the skills and knowledge to safely handle, transport and store chemicals, how to interpret chemical labels, Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and health and safety procedures to identify chemical storage and transport requirements.

Prepare and apply chemicals to control pest, weeds and diseases (AHCCHM307)

Gain the knowledge to determine if chemicals need to be used for pest control across a range of industries and the skills to get the chemicals ready to use and apply them safely.

Learn about the equipment used such as boom sprays, orchard air-blast sprayers, handheld spray equipment, dry chemical applicators, dips and drenching equipment.

Control weeds (AHCPMG301)

Develop the skills to assess weed infestations and implement weed control measures and learn strategies to provide effective weed control while avoiding damage to other plants and animals.

Elective Units

Implement a tree maintenance program (AHCARB314)

Develop the skills and knowledge to apply a range of tree-care techniques, such as trimming and preventative treaments for diseases and insects, in a structured maintenance schedule.

Nil

Perform pruning operations (AHCARB316)

Develop the skills and knowledge required to perform remedial work on trees either at ground or at height. Determine appropriate tools for work required and complete maintenance work.

Nil

Coordinate worksite activities (AHCWRK317)

Develop the skills to organise and manage work sites for small projects and learn the processes used to prepare and plan a work site including identifying and allocating resources, scheduling progress and delegating tasks.

Operate and maintain chainsaws (AHCMOM213)

Learn to operate chainsaws using safe cutting techniques and to maintain them in good-working condition. Learn how to assess the timber you’re preparing to cut for defects and hazards and to select the right cutting method for the job. Place supports to give you a stable base for cutting and cross cut timber using low-risk work methods.

Trim trees using a pole saw (FWPCOT3301)

Develop the skills required to trim branches and vines that are too high to reach from the ground to encourage tree growth and the knowledge required for the maintenance of a pole saw.

Prerequisites:
Nil

Identify plant specimens (AHCPCM303)

Gain the knowledge to identify plant species from specimens. Learn to describe the features and attributes of a plant for the purpose of identification.

Recognise any health characteristics that support identification, examine plant morphology and record the plant specimen’s identity according to your workplace or client needs.
