Important Announcement

December 7, 2024 By Tanya King

Interlink Training is excited to announce that we have entered into an agreement to be purchased by RelyOn Australia.

Interlink CEO Steve Hayes is excited by the move and is looking forward to the growth and expansion that is to come.

“As a privately owned, Australian Registered Training Organisation (RTO), Interlink was built on the guiding principles of being customer focused, quality driven, and financially responsible,” Steve said.

“Since 2001, we have grown into a leading Australian RTO with deep experience in all the specialist industry sectors we service across the country, including arboriculture, telecommunication, electrical, and powerline vegetation management training.

“Joining forces with RelyOn Australia, who are a well-established training and consulting specialist that is committed to expansion and investing in the future, is a great opportunity for Interlink to take our growth to the next level.”

“Importantly, all current Interlink employees and contract trainers will remain and continue to provide the same high level of service and quality to our clients and students”.

For over 50 years, RelyOn has delivered safety, compliance and competence services and solutions from their 30+ facilities around the world. They have a deep history of helping clients protect their people, assets, and the environment through the intelligent application of latest technology, the energy sector and other safety critical industries.

Torben Harring, CEO RelyOn, said “We are really pleased with our expansion into electrical training and consulting services, and into Australia, and we are excited to fast track this through the addition of Interlink Training to the RelyOn Australia business.”

“Interlink is a highly respected business. Its acquisition provides us access to new capabilities and new markets, and a stronger presence in all states. Powerline vegetation management and arboriculture training services are natural inclusions to our business,” said John Kelso, Managing Director of RelyOn Australia.

Interlink Chairman Paul Tymensen believes this is a positive opportunity for Interlink moving forward.

“Interlink has been a great business under the current ownership,” he said. “Steve and the team have done an excellent job servicing their customers and helping shape the industry with their expertise. We’re sure this will continue, and the team will thrive as a key part of the RelyOn organisation.”

If you have specific questions regarding the acquisition and how it may affect you, do not hesitate to contact us.

One of the best courses I have participated in

November 7, 2024 By Tanya King

My name is Jason and I recently undertook the Cert II ESI/Code of Practice training in Perth with Kat and Gavin from Interlink Training.

The whole registration process went smoothly. The instructions from Client Support Officer Kat were clear and during the week of the training, Kat was very friendly and helpful.

It is always a pleasure to be in a course where the instructor is knowledgeable and passionate about the subject material. I have to say that this was definitely one of the best courses I have participated in, and Gavin played a huge role in that.

In addition, the subject material presented was practical and informative. I learned a lot and, at the end of it, I was very glad that I took the course.

What was also important for me to see was the knowledge and passion that the other participants have for their craft. I could tell that they take a lot of pride in their work and their knowledge of trees impressed me. They weren’t all about operating equipment just to cut trees. There is a lot of thought that goes into doing the job properly for the benefit of the tree.

The electrical theory was really well done and I appreciated the information on how other parts of Australia manage this type of work.

While powerline workers who work for WP and HP [ie. Western Horizon Power] here in WA already have an electrical background and are allowed to cut trees near powerlines, I can see that they would benefit from the arboriculture parts of this training. Either that or a similar course that is less electrical and more on tree health and proper cutting techniques.

I plan on recommending this training to the network operators, not from an electrical safety perspective but from a best practices perspective for cutting back trees.

An absolute standout

October 20, 2024 By Tanya King

I completed the “Fell Trees Manually (Intermediate)” Training provided by Interlink in Loganholme and Doonan on the 9th and 10th of October 2024. I am a Trainer Assessor myself. My qualifications include a Cert IV in Training and Assessment, Cert IV WHS, Cert III Carpentry and Joinery, and Cert III Cabinetmaking, as well as a number of other skillsets and competencies across firefighting, forestry, WHS, electrotechnology, health and training. I’ve been both a trainee and a trainer for a few decades and have seen a lot of trainers at work, both as a student and a trainer.

In 2012 I completed FPIFGM3204A Fall Trees Manually (Intermediate) as the Qld Rural Fire Service required me to have this competency to be able to use a chainsaw during firefighting activities. At the time I’d been using chainsaws as a farmer, carpenter and firefighter for around 30 years already and was not pleased to have to undergo the training. I found it an absolute waste of time and learnt literally nothing.

I’m currently semi-retired and self employed delivering training in first aid, WHS, agricultural chemicals, and chainsaw use (Fall Trees Manually, Basic). My partner RTO required me to retrain as my competency is no longer equivalent which brought me to your course.

I found my trainer, Sascha Seifritz, to be an engaging and knowledgeable trainer. He is an absolute subject matter expert and I was learning the moment he started talking to us in the classroom. I was also really happy to see how well he was able to communicate to his students, some of whom were probably not happy being in a classroom.

Sascha was able to explain even relatively complex concepts and processes in a manner that made it possible for anyone to understand them. He put a lot of effort into supporting his students to complete their theory work which, I know from personal experience, can be one of the most difficult aspects of training delivery. I am certain that you would have a lower successful completion rate with a trainer who put in the average or usual amount of effort.

Once we got out into the field on our second day, it was obvious that Sascha has a huge wealth of knowledge and experience that underpins his training delivery. Despite the rain, Sascha was able to keep the practical activities moving safely and selected activities for each student that were tailored to their individual strengths and weaknesses.

Sascha supports his students to enable them to gain knowledge and competency, which, from my observations and experience, is often not the case. This training has hugely expanded my knowledge around tree felling as well as giving me some strategies for my own training delivery.

I would thoroughly recommend Interlink, and Sascha, for anyone who requires training in this field. I thoroughly enjoyed my two days of training; they were an absolute standout from all the training I’ve observed over the last couple of decades.

Harry’s journey was not without its challenges. The Certificate III in Arboriculture is a rigorous program that demands both theoretical knowledge and practical expertise.
