UAAA 2021 Annual Presentation

The Utility Arborist Association of Australia (UAAA) held their annual presentation on the 29th September 2021. They looked at the past, present and future of the association as well as taking it as an opportunity to award outstanding performers within the industry.

The presentation was MC by Kristy Pierpoint of Eastern Tree Services and begun with a presentation by Mark Willcocks (Active Tree Services) and Craig Hallam (Enspec) on the history and future directions for the UAAA.

Safety Leadership Award

The Safety Leadership award was presented by Amalie Smith (Essential Energy) and is awarded to a person who is constantly influencing and promoting a safety culture at every turn.

The nominees included Bob Hutley, Nikki Bewell and Dylan Carstairs, with Dylan taking out the award.

Rising Star Award

The Rising Star aware was presented by Doug Schmidt (South Australia Power Networks) and is awarded to an individual who is relatively early in their career yet has already shown leadership within the Utility Arboriculture industry.

Nominations included Shannon Williams, John Mockler, Harleigh Kollner, Lachlan MacPherson and Jay Balazs. Lachlan McPherson was the successful winner of the award.

Utility Arborist Award

The Utility Arborist Award was presented by Karl Cope (Active Tree Services) is presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the field of Utility Arboriculture over the past calendar year.

Nominations included Heath Frewin and Anthony Savige, with Heath being awarded the prize.

Lifetime Contribution Award

Finally Craig Hinton (Arboriculture Australia) presented the Lifetime Contribution award, looking at someone who has reached many milestones during their career as a Utility Arborist and has significantly contributed to advancing the Utility Arboriculture industry during their career.

This was awarded to Dale Enersen who has been working in the industry since 1977. Dale has recently returned to his native country of USA, but his contributions to the arboriculture industry in Australia will not be forgotten.
